The Oceans without Plastics Association works to conserve the environment and raise awareness of the problem of plastic and marine litter.
Founded in 2018, the Oceans Without Plastics Association has developed challenging and ambitious projects that have had excellent results and shown great impact.
Pollution in rivers and oceans is a concern for everyone and the data is frightening: by 2050 the weight of plastics in rivers and oceans will be greater than the weight of fish!
Therefore, raising awareness and educating is an important step towards the effectiveness of this project.
Mission:
To clean the beaches of all the municipalities of mainland Portugal and the islands, promoting ecological practices and the reduction of the use of plastics by the Portuguese population, in order to improve their quality of life and that of our ecosystems.
‘500 years after the Discoveries, we want Portugal to be at the forefront of ocean protection’.
What do they do?
Cleaning beach
We aim to carry out beach clean-ups in every municipality in Portugal within 3 years, with the help of our partners, who commit to carrying out at least 3 beach and/or river clean-ups and an awareness-raising campaign for their local population.
Environmental education and eco team buildings
We attend various talks and events where we are invited to talk about ourselves, our work and the problem of plastics. We organize Eco Team Building activities for all kinds of groups.
